A recurring credit toward your electricity bill
SRP lists a $35 or $10 monthly credit, depending on household income. This is its Income-Qualified Discount. Apply directly with SRP; AZ Energy Hub does not collect applications or income documents.

1. Check the account and household requirements
The account must be in your name, and the service address must be your permanent home. SRP uses the household’s combined monthly income before taxes and deductions. That can include wages, benefits, pensions and other income, not just take-home pay. Its residential credit policy, limited-income provisions explains what counts.
The published tiers are $35 a month at 0–150% of the Federal Poverty Level and $10 at 151–200%. These percentages describe income limits that depend on household size. Start with SRP’s current household-size table.
Confirm the income limit with SRP. On September 13, its program web page and downloadable credit policy showed different dollar limits. We have left those conflicting figures out of this guide. Ask which current limit applies to your household before ruling yourself in or out.
2. Get the information ready before you start
Use this checklist alongside SRP’s one-page application (PDF):
- Account: copy the account number and name from the SRP bill; add the home address and contact details.
- Household: count adults and children, then enter the total.
- Income: enter the total monthly household income before taxes or deductions. The form says the household-size and income fields cannot be left blank.
- Paper application: read the certification, sign and date it. Check that every required answer is filled in and readable.
SRP also requires proof for each household member who receives income. Before sending records, ask which documents and dates it needs for your situation, especially if pay varies or someone recently lost a job.
The paper form says income proof should reach SRP within 60 days of enrollment. Treat that as a follow-up deadline, not a reason to postpone gathering it. Ask SRP to confirm your own deadline and how to deliver the documents.
3. Choose a way to apply
Online
Open SRP’s online application. The entry page asks you to sign in to My Account.
Have your account and household information beside you before signing in.
By phone
Call 602-236-8888. Outside Maricopa County, SRP lists 800-258-4777.
Ask for help enrolling in the Income-Qualified Discount.
On paper
Download SRP’s application. The form gives its email, mailing address and fax number.
Use the return details on the current form and keep a copy.
4. Leave yourself a clear next step
SRP says it sends application-status information by mail or email. Its follow-up instructions also point to Price Plans & Programs in My Account. Check whether income verification is still needed; submitting a form alone does not settle that question.
Keep a short application note
Write down the date you applied, the method you used, what you sent, any reference number and the next deadline. These are our suggested tracking steps.
On a follow-up call, ask: “Have you received my application and income proof? Is anything missing? Which monthly credit was approved, and when should I see it? When do I need to renew?”

Common questions
Can a renter apply for the SRP discount?
Renting does not by itself rule you out. SRP requires an account in your name, your permanent residence at the service address, and qualifying household income. If electricity is included in rent or the account belongs to someone else, ask SRP which assistance route fits your situation.
Does the discount work with M-Power?
SRP includes M-Power customers in this program. For enrolled customers, its program page says the monthly credit is available on the first of each month. Ask SRP when your first credit will appear.
Will I need to apply again next year?
Yes. SRP requires an annual renewal. Its instructions point to Price Plans & Programs in My Account or the renewal paperwork it sends. Keep your contact information current and respond to requests for income verification.
